Lucky Chaos Theatre Project Austin Let's Talk January 2013

LuckyChaos kicks off its 2013 season at our new home Salvage Vanguard Theater (SVT)! With monthly shows ranging from comedy to dramatic, scripted to improvised, we are taking chances and hope you join us in our journey.

Click for tickets at Eventbrite ($6.12)

We kick off our 2013 season with Let’s Talk! followed by a mixer! Let’s Talk is a fun ‘Talk and Show’ where we chat with our guests and catch a glimpse of the person behind the art, and then they will treat us to a sample of their work. Come join us and talk to our guests after in the Meet&Greet, and stay for the LuckyChaos Kickoff Mixer! We would love to talk to you about our upcoming shows and the inspiration behind them.

Talk show guests are:

DaXun Zhang is a double-bassist who’s toured with YoYo Ma, the celebrated cellist. Daxun has won numerous international awards as well as performed extensively with prominent orchestras nationally and internationally. "If the bass is finally to produce a headliner, the instrument can have no better champion than Zhang," (The Washington Post, March 2005) Daxun has graciously agreed to perform some of his favorite pieces!

Yen Tan, previously featured on the frontpage of the Austin Chronicle, is a professional graphic designer who designs the most kickass and sought-after posters. His newest feature film, Pit Stop, is premiering in the prestigious Sundance Film Festival in 2013.

Beili Liu is a multidisciplinary artist who specializes in time and process based installations using materials ranging from thread, paper, incense, wood, salt to water. She has exhibited extensively both nationally and internationally. Her art is “materially simple but metaphorically rich” (Art in America Review, April 2009).

Anuradha Naimpally has been performing worldwide for over 30 years.and is widely respected as a performer and teacher of the Classical Indian dance technique Bharata Natyam. She has received awards and accolades nationally and internationally. We will be treated to a sample of this expressive and vibrant artform.

Jingqun Shao
is a master teacher of the classical Chinese instrument Guzheng. She’s spent over 40 years mastering this instrument, studying under the tutelage of prominent masters in China and in later years, performing and teaching around the world. Her students have won awards and she’s developed over the years, her own signature style of playing. Come for this rare opportunity to see her perform a piece for us.

ABOUT LuckyChaos Theater Projects:
LuckyChaos Theater Projects produce works by or about Asian Americans as well as other under-represented communities. We hope to increase dialogue about these experiences through the performance arts. Our projects are stories from a different point of view and range from published works to original works including submissions from the community. We explore all mediums including scripted, experimental, improv and movement. Come checkout our shows – every 1st and 2nd weekends of the month at Salvage Vanguard Theater (Studio) – Fri/Sat 8pm and 1st Sat 10pm. “Create Art. Create Identity. Create Possibilities. Play On!”
