The University of Texas Michener Center for Writers is proud to host a reading by playwright and director OCTAVIO SOLIS at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Avaya Auditorium, ACE 2.302. The event is free and open to students and the public. The auditorium is located at the corner of 24th and Speedway on campus, with parking available two blocks east in the San Jacinto Garage.
Solis, a native of El Paso, Texas, who has lived for many years in San Francisco, is the award-winning playwright of MAN OF THE FLESH, PROSPECT, SANTOS & SANTOS, BETHLEHEM, THE PASTURES OF HEAVEN, and LYDIA. His many honors include NEA and McKnight Fellowships, a National Theatre Artists' Residency, the Will Glickman Playwrights Award, and grants from the Kennedy Center Fund for New American Plays and the Pew Charitable Trust. He has been visiting artist with the Michener Center and the Department of Theatre and Dance this spring.
Octavio will read short selections from his plays and other work—and maybe even sing a little opera!
