The Rep, New Theatre in Wimberley, holds auditions for
The Blanco Was Blameless
or
It Was Balcones’ Fault
January 29 and 30
The Rep – a not for profit repertory theatre company in residence at The Katherine Ann Porter School in Wimberley -- begins its inaugural season with an original piece (March 25 – April 17)—The Blanco Was Blameless or It Was Balcones’ Fault which held the attendance record for Wimberley (7 weeks to packed houses) in its first run. Blanco…was written by local playwright Russ Marlett, with music by Jules Alexander (winner of platinum and gold records during his time with The Association).
This is a musical spoof of Wimberley’s early history, wherein a shyster attempts to divert the mighty Blanco to export to the world’s capitals, Wimberley’s chief commodities, limestone, cedar, and goats. Shirley Marlett will direct.
Open auditions will be held Sunday, January 30 from 2:00PM to 5:00PM, and again the following day from 7:00PM to 9:00PM at KAPS. There will be an accompanist at the auditions. You may bring your own sheet music, sing a capella, or do some vocal exercises at the piano. Please call (512)395-7043 for information and to request a script. Please leave a message, and your call will be returned by that evening.
