Auditions in Fredericksburg for Oklahoma! by Rodgers & Hammerstein, Fredericksburg Theater Company, April 22 and 23, 2013



Fredericksburg Theatre TXFredericksburg Theatre Company Auditions for Oklahoma! will be held on April 22 and 23 at 7 pm at the Steve W. Shepherd Theater, 1668 HWY 87 South, Fredericksburg (click for map). All roles are open for auditions. Please prepare one song that best showcases your vocal ability. A CD player and pianist will be provided. Cold readings will follow vocal auditions. Attendance at both audition days is not mandatory.

 

Oklahoma! will Oklahoma Rodgers and Hammerstein Fredericksburg Theater Company TXrun weekends June 28 - July 14. Performance times are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30, and Sundays at 2pm. There will be two Saturday morning performances (July 6 & 13) for area youth starting at 10am included in the performances run. Attendance at crunch week rehearsals, June 24th-27th, and all performances is mandatory. Set in the Oklahoma Territory in 1906, this Tony-Award-winning classic tells the story of cowboy Curly McLain and his romance with farm girl Laurey Williams. This musical features Broadway hits such as "Oh What a Beautiful Morning", "People Will Say We're in Love", and "Oklahoma".


Oklahoma! has many chorus member roles with feature vocal parts. If you are interested in being in this production, but not looking to play a lead, then a chorus part in this musical will be right up your alley. Ages for chorus members will range from 15-75. The production also features talented ballet dancers ranging from 13-25 years of age for the ballet dream sequence. If you are a ballet dancer, please come to auditions to inquire about the ballet roles. Number of ballet dancers needed is subject to the number of dancers who inquire.
Principal Roles include (age ranges are approximate):

Aunt Eller: Laurey's aunt, a respected community leader. Age 50-70
Curly: A cowboy in love with Laurey. Age 20-30
Laurey: Aunt Eller's niece, an independent young women. Age 16-30
Will Parker: A simple young man in love with Ado Annie. Age 16-30
Jud Fry: A hired hand on Aunt Eller's ranch, a mysterious and dangerous loner. Age 25-45
Ado Annie Carnes: A flirtatious, gullible young woman. Age 18-30
Ali Hakim: A Persian peddler, enamored Ado Annie. Age 20-40
Gertie Cummings: A local farm girl, fond of Curly, marries Ali Hakim. Age 16-30
Andrew Carnes: Ado Annie's father, eager to have her marry. Age 40-60
