Austin Shakespeare will revel in its second annual Luminalia at the Umlauf Sculpture Garden, 605 Robert E. Lee Road, in Austin, Texas. Combining pageantry, poetry, dance, music, spectacle and feasting, the event originated in the seventeenth century and celebrates "The Triumph of Light" with entertainments of the era. The Luminalia will take place Sunday, November 14, 2010 from 5-9 pm, and includes lighting by Robert Whyburn, period musicians and dancers from the American Repertory Ensemble, and a dinner by Word of Mouth Catering.
Traditionally, Luminalia guests arrive in costume and masks, mingling with dancers and actors in the evening's production. This year's participants are encouraged to wear colors and accessories that contribute to the evening's celestial theme, and special costume rental rates have been made available to by Costume World, 8207 Burnet Road in Austin, 512.323.5949. Costumes are entirely optional.
Tickets are $125 each with Stellar ticket packages at $250, which include a mask by Jennifer Davis, champagne and other starry surprises. Corporate tables seating 8 people are available for $1500 - $5000.
