Auditions for The Miracle Worker will be held on August 12 &13 at 7 p.m. at the Steve W. Shepherd Theater, 1668 HWY 87 South, Fredericksburg- click for map
All roles are open for audition. Auditions will be conducted with cold readings from the script. The role of Helen Keller will be auditioned by staging a particular scene and running through the scene with anyone auditioning for this particular role. Scripts for "The Miracle Worker" can be checked out at the FTC Office located at 306 E. Austin Street starting Monday, July 29th. The checkout period for scripts will be 48 hours. Rehearsals will begin Tuesday Sept. 3rd. Attendance at Crunch Week rehearsals, Oct. 7th-10th is mandatory, as well as attendance at all performances. Performances dates are Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays Oct. 11th-27th.
Immortalized on stage and screen by Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke, this classic tells the story of Annie Sullivan and her student, blind and mute Helen Keller. The Miracle Worker dramatizes the volatile relationship between the lonely teacher and her charge. Trapped in a secret, silent world, unable to communicate, Helen is violent, spoiled, almost sub-human and treated by her family as such. Only Annie realizes that there is a mind and spirit waiting to be rescued from the dark, tortured silence. With scenes of intense physical and emotional dynamism, Annie's success with Helen finally comes with the utterance of a single, glorious word.
