A NIGHT OF HORROR

Revamping for their 2011 calendar season, The Chaotic Theatre Company is excited to announce auditions for David Skeele’s, THE MARGINS, and DARK NORTH. Both plays will run the same evening as each play is its own act. All parts will be double cast. We are seeking 7 cast members for these two plays of supernatural horror.

The Margins

Inspired by an experiment done in the 70’s, a group of powerful psychics get together to create an artificial ghost. It should be a simple, harmless experiment. But someone, or something, has a different agenda.

Characters

Jonathan – (Male) Leader of the experiment, late 20’s early 30’s.

Phyllida – (Female) The Historian, Helen's ex, late 20’s early 30’s.

Helen – (Female) Psychic, Jonathan’s girlfriend, late 20’s early 30’s.

Markus – (Male) The journalist invited to track the experiment, late 20’s early 30’s.

Lane - (Male) Psychic, pompous, arrogant, pervert, early 30’s -early 40’s.

Trace - (Male) A mute, Helen's brother, early 20’s.

Dark North

Television psychic Daniel Dark North has made a lucrative career out of communing with the dead. But one day, in the bowels of a crumbling Connecticut mansion, he discovers that sometimes the dead and gone really ought to stay that way…

Characters

Daniel Dark North – (Male) Televisions Psychic, believes in his power to con people, early 30’s.

Genevieve – (Female) His assistant, late 20’s early 30’s.

Kristen – (Female) Daughter, failed actress, messy, late 20’s early 30’s.

Zelthausen – (Male) family Leader, father to Kristen, Tall foreboding man, Late 50’s early 60’s.

Neal – (Male) Brother, mama’s boy, very sensitive, Early 20’s.

Taylor – (Female) Daughter, doesn’t believe in psychics, the oldest, well dressed, early 30’s.

Margaret – (Female) Zelthausens's sister late 40’s early 50’s, has a stutter.

Please prepare and bring the following to the audition: a contemporary dramatic monologue of no more than 1 minute, a theatrical resume, your anticipated schedule through the middle of January 2011, and a headshot (if available).

Production runs January 6^th through January 15^th, 2011 at the Larry King Theatre next to the Austin Playhouse. Auditions will be held at the Dougherty Arts Center (Blue Room) on Saturday, November 13^th from 10am to 1pm, and Monday, November 15^th 6pm to 9pm (Yellow Room). No appointment necessary. Call backs will be Tuesday the 16^th, 6-9pm in the Yellow Room.
