A Murder Is Announced Agatha Christie Northside Performing Arts San Antonio TXSo appears the invitation in the Chipping Cleghorn Gazette. How exciting! The villagers expect a game. A crowd gathers. The murderer is chosen. The victim falls. Then the lights go out… It’s suddenly no longer a game when a body is discovered. How could this happen? Where did the game go wrong? Fortunately Miss Marple is on hand – the greatest player of them all!

Auditions Monday, August 19 for A Murder Is Announced, 7 p.m. at Northside Performing Arts Center, 21518 Blanco Rd, Ste 101,. San Antonio, TX 78260 - click for map. We are seeking performers age 18 or older for this volunteer production .

HOW TO PREPARE: Please bring a current headshot and resume. Actors will be asked to perform cold reading selections from the script. An English accent is a plus, but not necessary.
REHEARSALS: Monday and Wednesday evenings, 7:00-9:00pm, beginning Wednesday, September 4. Additional rehearsals will be held on Tuesday, October 8 and Thursday, October 10.
PERFORMANCES: October 11-26. Performances each Friday and Saturday at 8:00pm.


Characters:
Mrs. Blacklock: beyond middle age, generous and likable.
Julia Simmons: mid-twenties
Phillipa Haymes: widower, has a child, tall, elegant, mid twenties, serious
Dora Bunner: older than Mrs. Blacklock, forgetful
Patrick Simmons: Julia’s brother, late twenties
Mitzi: any age, explosive, paranoid, Hungarian accent
Jane Marple: elderly, independent, self-sufficient, curious, witty, warm hearted, eccentric
Mlrs. Sewettenham: mid-fifties
Edmund Swettenham: mid-twenties, dark, foreign looking, short tempered, possessive, militant
Rudi Scherz: European
Inspector Craddock: 50+
Sergeant Mellors: junior in age to Craddock.
