The Board of Directors and Vive Les Arts Theatre are excited to present our next show: LEGALLY BLONDE: THE MUSICAL.
The story is based on the novel Legally Blonde by Amanda Brown and the 2001 film of the same name. The story highlights the power of staying positive in the midst of adversity. Sorority girl and social maven Elle Woods can handle anything. So when her boyfriend Warner dumps her for someone "serious", she decides to follow him to Harvard and win him back. With some help from her Chihuahua Bruiser and some seriously loyal new friends, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style. This production is rated PG 13.
We at Vive Les Arts Theatre are just “pink” with pride over the starring cast of the upcoming premiere of LEGALLY BLONDE: THE MUSICAL. The show not only features a talented cast of singing and dancing actors, but also one key canine role which will be played by none other than Donna, a rescued Chihuahua mix from Humane Heroes of Killeen, Texas.
Donna will take to the stage as “Bruiser” in LEGALLY BLONDE: THE MUSICAL. During the rehearsal process, one actor, Corrie Hermans, took a special liking to Donna. Corrie Hermans, who happens to be cast as Elle Woods, has asked to adopt the Chihuahua mix. The Hermans' family have always been large dog lovers, and lost their family dog of 16 years in December. They planned on looking for a new pup, but when Donna, AKA Bruiser came to visit Corrie for bonding time, she quickly stole their hearts. This tiny pup snuggles, plays fetch, and begs for car rides; you never know what treasures you can find at an animal shelter. We are happy to say Donna has found her forever home, and has also made some “forever friends” along the way. We hope Donnas’ story inspires our patrons to become a “forever home” to animals in shelters as well. At the end of the day, THAT may be the most important role Donna will ever play.
LEGALLY BLONDE: THE MUSICAL will run Friday, July 19 through Sunday, August 4, 2013. Fridays and Saturdays: 7:00pm and Sunday: 2:00pm.
