Way Off Broadway Community Players will be holding auditions on Monday April 30th at 7 p.m. for The Kitchen Witches by Caroline Smith, directed by Ed Trujillo. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. There are roles for 2 women and 2 men. Auditions are open to the public and will be held at Way Off Broadway's new theater, located in the 2243 Business Park at 11880 West FM 2243, Leander, 1 mile west of Hwy. 183, just east of Bagdad Road (click for map).
The show is set as an actual “live” television production, where part of the audience has a hand in the taste testing. Isobel Lomax and Dolly Biddle are two cable-access cooking show hostesses who have hated each other for 30 years, ever since Larry Biddle dated one and married the other. When circumstances put them together on a TV show called The Kitchen Witches, the insults are flung harder than the food! Dolly's long-suffering TV-producer son, Stephen, tries to keep them on track, but as long as Dolly's dressing room is one inch closer to the set than Isobel's, it's a losing battle, and the show becomes a ratings smash as Dolly and Isobel top both Martha Stewart and Jerry Springer! Simmer together two battling chefs, whip in one long-suffering producer, fold in insults, props and food, then sprinkle liberally with an animated audience and you have the tasty treat of a great evening of fun.
