We're back! Happy Hour Theatre returns in the gorgeous new Topfer Theatre, but one thing hasn't changed: We're still out to create a night geared towards twenty-somethings that's destined to be a good time! DO YOU HEAR THE PEOPLE SING? SINGING THE SONG OF ANGRY MEN?

No? Must be because you're not sitting next to me. But you could be on Wednesday, September 25, when ZACH is offering discounted $25 tickets to LES MISERABLES for all patrons under 30. Just enter the promo code HAPPYHOUR at the top of the page when you purchase tickets. The show starts at 8 pm, but get there at 6:45 pm to take advantage of some free grub, courtesy of our friends at Toastie's Sub Shop, hobnobbing and of course cheap beer and drink specials.

After the show, join us in the Serra Skyline Lounge to mingle with the cast! If you are interested in student tickets, we offer $18 rush tickets one hour before curtain at the door. You are still welcome to join the festivities, but, as always, must be 21 to drink.

A single house becomes the backdrop for provocative clashes about race, community, and gentrification in 1959 and 2009, forcing audiences to consider just how far we’ve come and how far we still have to go. Clybourne Park, originally inspired by A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry, proves that these themes are just as relevant today as ever.

Jean Valjean, released on parole after 19 years on the chain gang, finds that the yellow ticket-of-leave he must, by law, display condemns him to be an outcast. Only the saintly Bishop of Digne treats him kindly and Valjean, embittered by years of hardship, repays him by stealing some silver. Valjean is caught and brought back by police, and is astonished when the Bishop lies to the police to save him, also giving him two precious candlesticks. Valjean decides to start his life anew.

Article of October 7, from the website: When tryouts for the Fall 2009 musical began in May at the Upper School, Drama Director Rick Garcia and Musical Director Warren Dickson thought their students were trying out for either South Pacific or Kiss Me Kate. As the tryouts unfolded, however, they set their sites on an even bigger challenge: Les Miserables.

“'Les Miserables was the perfect choice for the 2009 Fall Musical," says Warren Dickson, Director of Vocal/Choral Music at St. Andrew’s. "It combines everything that the vocal program and the theatre program have been working toward since the Upper School opened in 1998. The singing is very demanding for all of the leading roles, and we just happen to have the vocal talent this year to produce this outstanding show. The music has a great deal of depth, emotionally, and the students are working hard to express what is demanded by their characters, both vocally and dramatically. It is going to be a powerful experience for the performers as well as for the audience."
