Some Girls is a story of a man who decides to re-connect with his old girlfriends before he gets married. Almost, a montage, each scene occurs between Guy and one of his exes before he leaves for the next city, next hotel room, to re-visit the next girl.
Auditions will be on Sunday February 24th from 7-10 in ARTS 141. A sign up sheet is posted on the Transit call board of MMNT along with sides that need to be memorized for the audition, please!
Those involved with Earnest can't be considered due to scheduling conflicts!

'Some Girl(s)' play to educate students about the world of acting

Jeremy Lee Cudd, a theatre and dance lecturer, claims to have been a bad actor at the beginning of his career. But he is now using the undergraduate acting project production of “Some Girl(s)” to teach undergraduate students how to avoid his mistakes.
“Some Girl(s)” tells the story of recently engaged Guy, who decides to travel the country to meet with his former girlfriends in an attempt to make amends before he begins his new life. While Hollywood romantic-comedies shy away from the messy aspects of love, “Some Girl(s)” tackles it head-on.

Cudd received his bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University in English literature with a minor in theatre. Cudd played drums/percussion for several musical theater productions, which is how he became interested in acting.

“There was something about the environment and the actors, their sort of weirdness,” Cudd said. “I really fell in love with it.”

Cudd felt like he hit a ceiling in his development as an actor, which is when he decided to pursue his master’s degree in acting at Penn State. Cudd said that he truly began to understand the basic elements of theater through graduate school.

“I didn’t know I wanted to be an actor until my last year of grad school,” Cudd said. “I started to branch out after that.”

Through “Some Girl(s),” Cudd aims to create a fundamental experience for his actors to grow and discover their own acting process.

Following his engagement, Guy contacts his former girlfriends and arranges a series of meetings in hotel rooms across the country.

Director Jeremy Lee Cudd shares, “Playwright Neil LaBute calls the play a ‘romance,’ which can be very misleading if you have the wrong frame of reference. LaBute refers to the French films of Eric Rohmer as a source of inspiration here, not the sanitized, Big-American-Movie notion of romance that leaves out all the nasty, messy bits.

Apart from those ‘high school sweethearts’ out there, the rest of us stumble through many relationships - crippled by our insecurities and blinded by our immaturity - in the search for that ‘someone special.’ This play takes an unflinching look at the wake of destruction we can leave behind us when we think we are just ‘following our heart.’ I invite the audience to bring all their relationship baggage with them to the show and take the ride with us.”

The play is approximately 2 hours. Some Girl(s) includes adult language, sexual themes and situations.
