Synopsis: Mr. Potcher, a school consultant, eliminates all classes in the arts and all extracurricular activities for the sake the improving children's education. When a young student named Darcy tries to persuade Mr. Potcher to reinstate these activities, he not only remains unconvinced, he decides also to do away with all the holidays -- actually eliminate them from existence. The iconic holiday characters (Santa, Easter Bunny, Cupid, Leprechaun, a jack-o'-lantern and a Thanksgiving turkey), conspire with Darcy to change Mr. Potcher's mind.

Bob Silberg's writing career spans genres from TV sitcoms to science writing for NASA. His credits include a public-service commercial featuring Mel Brooks which was honored by the Clio organization (advertising's Oscars) and a campaign for the Will Rogers Institute that won an Emmy from the New York chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. He also wrote a string of best-selling videos for CRM Films which received numerous honors, including the John Cleese Comedy Award. On the music front, he wrote lyrics for the CBS game show Musical Chairs and for the Climbing Higher series of children's stories, and was a lyricist in BMI's musical theater workshop in New York.
Barbara Klaskin Silberg, aka Mrs. Music, is the music director at UCLA's Neuropsychiatric Hospital, where she brightens the lives of pediatric and adolescent inpatients. She is also director of the West Los Angeles Children's Choir, which was chosen to sing backup for Michael Jackson before his untimely death and has recently been tapped to back up The Black Eyed Peas, Panic at the Disco, and Train among other bands. Barb's choir is slated to perform at an international concert for peace this year in Beijing, where they'll sing two songs written by the Silbergs. Barb and Bob's songs have been performed at the Hollywood Bowl, licensed by the Kid Genius record label, and featured on a website of patriotic music sponsored by the National Institute of Health. Mr. Potcher's Holiday is their first theatrical musical.

Skippyjon Jones, presented by TheatreworksUSA and based on the book by Judy Schachner, is a little kitten with big ears and even bigger dreams! 

Skippyjon’s wild imagination takes over when he catches his reflection in a mirror. “Holy guacamole,” Skippyjon exclaims. “My ears are too big for my head, my head is too big for my body. I am not a Siamese cat – I am a CHIHUAHUA!” And not just any Chihuahua. He dons a mask, a cape, and an accent, and transforms into Skippito Friskito, the greatest canine sword fighter in old Mexico! But when the local pack of chihuahuas is terrorized by the gigantic bee, Alfredo Buzzito El Blimpo Bublebeeto Bandito, will Skippyjon be a ‘fraidy-cat or the top dog?

"Spies, murder, love, and other trademarks of Alfred Hitchcock come to life in the style of a 1940s radio broadcast of the master of suspense's earlier films. Vintage Hitchcock: A Live Radio Play is a triple feature, complete with vintage commercials, that recreates a daring train chase, a serial killer's ominous presence, and a devastating explosion through the magic of live sound effects and musical underscoring."

Join the cast playing multiple characters and sound effects technicians.
The Bastrop Opera House has produced numerous radio plays. Vintage Hitchcock is the first production in the 2012 theatre season which is dedicated to the newly formed Bastrop Film Commission. This commission promotes Bastrop as a film-friendly community supporting film making by independents and major studios alike.

Joe Landry's plays have been produced across the country and internationally, and include It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, Reefer Madness, Vintage Hitchcock: A Live Radio Play, Eve & Co., Beautiful, Hollywood Babylon, and Numb. Mr. Landry attended Playwright's Horizons/NYU, founded Second Guess Theatre Company in Connecticut and is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America. Arc Alive Staging Three Short Plays by Gary Chason on June 12th in Bastrop


The Arc Alive Performing Collective in Bastrop celebrates "Play Day" on June 12th by staging three short plays by Austin-based playwright and Hollywood director Gary Chason. The free performances will be staged at the Upstart Media Arts Center.

The plays include Terminal, the story of a dying young man with unfinished business, featuring Colleen Parnell and Clint Shumake. The story Moving in Circles sees actors Debra Orr and Savanna Darrow sharing the woes of hiring a nanny, and Madame Ripple finds Jamie Damon and Michael McGary looking for drugs with unexpected consequences.

Playwright Chason will attend the performances and participate in post-show discussions.
The afternoon event will also include additional performances by Arc Alive members and announcements of future events.
