Sky Candy aerial arts collective will produce “The Flame,” a theatrical presentation of the story of the Olympic flame, running July 17 - 27, 2012, at its studio atin East Austin.

"The Flame" is an original contemporary interpretation of the history, meaning and spirit of the Olympic flame, conceived, produced and directed by Sky Candy founding member Andy Agne. The audience will be taken on a journey from ancient Greece, when the flame was born, to modern day England as the torch arrives in London for the Olympic Games and takes the spirit of the Olympic games into the future.

“I’m excited about showing the timeline, the progression of the Olympic Flame from ancient times to the present,” said director Andy Agne. “It’s a reminder of what the Olympic games really are and should be, a friendly competition between countries, finding that common denominator that unites us all, that’s what the spirit of the Flame really is.”

“The Flame” will feature music composed by Chris Humphrey and dance & aerial choreography by Andy Agne, as well as aerial stunts on hoop, straps and trapeze, and ground-based dance, acrobatics, poetry and acting.

The final performance of “The Flame” will be held on the night of the opening ceremonies of the London 2012 Summer Olympics, and the show will be followed by a viewing of the opening ceremonies and Olympic kick-off party.

“The Flame” will be held at Sky Candy’s studio located at 507 Calles Street in East Austin. Ticket prices range from $15-$25 for the show and can be purchased at http://theflame.eventbrite.com/. The show will run at the following dates and times:
