Audition and crew call at University of Texas: Looking for an open-minded male actor and lighting & audio crew for Behind Those Hazel Lies

Looking for an open-minded male actor and people with experience in stage lighting and audio production to volunteer their time for Behind Those Hazel Lies, a new play by Mark-Anthony Zuniga, directed by Davvi Solomon. The show is scheduled to run in the LAB Theatre at the University of Texas in Austin October 11th-13th. The estimated run time is 1 hour and 30 minutes. Rehearsals are already underway, so we are looking for people willing to work quickly to help bring this show together.
 PLEASE NOTE: Anyone who participates must be comfortable with mature subject matter which includes male/male intimacy.


Behind Those Hazel Lies is a story about a gay man named Kavin who is convinced by his friends to take a ballet class to help him get over his ex-boyfriend. Unexpectedly, ballet will ultimately test friendships, create family drama, reveal secrets and promote healing. This production is a play, but each scene will demonstrate a ballet term, which also represents the underlying theme. A staged reading of this play (previously titled Danseur Drama) was a Filament sparked by Suzan Zeder as part of The Cohen New Works Festival presented by the University Co-op in 2013.


There is no compensation for working on this production, but you get experience working on a new artistic project.


Rehearsals have already begun and will range from 6:30pm - 10:30pm weekdays, some weekend rehearsals will be required. Tech rehearsals will begin Sept 30th - Oct 10th.


Performance Dates. Performances are expected to be Oct 11th at 7pm, Oct 12th at 5pm and a possible evening performance on Sunday, Oct 13th.

Male Actor: The audition is for the role of Renzi Bolle. He is a heterosexual male in his mid to late 20’s and Kavin’s roommate of three years. He works as a vocational rehabilitation counselor and met Kavin after counseling his brother. This character is very confident and thinks everyone finds him attractive. However, he is a really nice guy and protective of Kavin. This character provides comic relief, but also must be emotionally available to help console him during a tough time in his life. The actor playing this role will be required to kiss another male actor.




Auditions are available by appointment only (after 6 pm) until the role is filled. Auditions will be held in the F. Loren Winship Drama Building located at 300 E 23rd St. The audition will consist of a cold reading from the script. The Sheldon Vexler Theatre in San Antonio is currently designing a specialized project for the production of Glengarry Glen Ross by David Mamet. Casting 8 characters aged 30s and up. Casting will include both male and female actors.
Performances February 7- March 3, 2013, Thursdays at 7:30pm, Saturdays at 8:00pm, Sunday matinees at 2:30pm, and Sunday evening shows at 7:30pm on 2/24 and 3/3. Call times are 60 minutes before curtain.

Rehearsals will begin with a few meetings, read-throughs, and table work sessions in December. A typical Vex rehearsal schedule is Monday- Thursday 7pm-10pm. Friday and weekend rehearsals are scheduled as needed throughout the rehearsal period. The final two weeks and weekends of rehearsals include technical and dress rehearsals with the full company called.

Glengarry Glen Ross is Mamet at his very best, writing about small-time, cutthroat real estate salesmen trying to grind out a living by pushing plots of land on reluctant buyers in a never-ending scramble for their share of the American dream. The Vex presents a new twist to the traditionally all-male cast by converting a few of the characters to women, touching on current issues of female competition in male-dominated industries. The script for Glengarry Glen Ross can be found at some bookstores, on Ebooks such as the Kindle, and at the licensing agency Samuel French.

Opportunity: Strike Crew at the Georgetown Palace

We're still looking for more awesome people to join our amazing Strike team. We have ten amazing people so far, but we need more so we can really make this work. We had a good time at the last time, and we'll look to keep the good times rolling at the end of this month when we strike Dixie Swim club.

As a reminder Here are some of the benefits:

· We'll have the same group of people for every strike.
· The team will become a finely tuned machine who can execute all the tasks of strike in a safe and efficient manner.


We understand that it would be a large commitment for anyone to commit to be at the strike for every show. We'd be looking to get a team of at least 25 people to sign up. That way not everyone would have to do every show, but we'd still have a large enough group at each show to accomplish the task. If you are on the strike team and in the show that just ended, you would not be expected to help with that strike.

Here's what you'd get:

· Training on safe set deconstruction, the fly system, prop and set storage.
· 2 comps tickets for every Strike you help with
· The eternal gratitude of a cast and crew who just finished a long run after a long rehearsal process.
· A listing in the program for every production
· Acknowledgement in the opening night curtain speech for every production

We will have special strike team T-Shirts as well.

Hi Everyone! We are just a month out to The Time Machine and there is still lots of work to get done! We would love your help in a few different areas. In exchange, we can offer you some free classes with us as a token of our thanks for pitching in to make this amazing theatrical production a reality. Builders This week, we've got three build sessions with Andy Agne. In these sessions, you will help Andy put together some of the big wooden structures we'll be using as set pieces for the show. In addition to your help, if you've got tools, please let Andy know so can let you know what we may need extras of! We will give you one free class for each shift you work. BOUDIKKA: The Warrior Queen

written and directed by Philip Kreyche.
Synopsis: After a British queen sees her lands occupied and her daughters raped, she raises a mighty army and leads a rebellion against the Roman Empire.

Casting for the following roles:

- Paulinus Suetonius: Roman governor of Britain. Driven by ambition, he lives only for fame and success. Looking for males with Mediterranean/Roman looks, age 30-60.
- Catus Virgilius: a Roman commander, ruthless and cruel. Looking for males, preferably with Mediterranean/Roman looks, age 30-60.
- Kamorra: a British princess who has taken on the warrior-like attitudes of her male peers. Looking for females, preferably with north European looks, who could pass for 14-18 years old. (This role includes an on-stage rape, so I'm only taking actresses over the age of 18)
- Taska: a British princess who has taken on the more diplomatic, reserved attitude of her father, the late king. Looking for females, preferably with north European looks, who could pass for 14-18 years old. (This role also includes an on-stage rape, so only actresses over the age of 18)

In addition, I'm looking for eight people to play Briton warriors and Roman soldiers (4 Britons, 4 Romans). In several scenes they create the world and communicate the story through movement, and they're in all of the battle scenes.

There is a lot of fight choreography, physical movement, and dance in this show, so all actors auditioning (including speaking roles) should be in decent/good physical shape.

Also looking for the following crew:

- Sound / Light operator (experience doing tech for at least two previous shows)
- Production Assistants to help with sets, running concessions/box office (prior experience not necessary)

Auditions are June 13th and 14th, at Austin Java Co. Actors may perform a monologue, but sides for each character will also be provided upon request.

Rehearsals are Mondays-Tuesdays-Thursdays at Dougherty Arts Center, June 27th-July 28th. Tech is August 1st-2nd, performances August 3rd-6th at Salvage Vanguard Theater.

Fresh off the explosive run of ALICE! at The Vortex, the Chaotic Theatre Company is holding auditions for William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. We are currently seeking 15 cast members for this imaginative production of the Shakespeare classic.

Shakespearean experience is preferred but not required. Please prepare and bring the following to the audition: a Shakespearean monologue of no more than 1 minute, a theatrical resume, your anticipated schedule through the first weekend of March 2010 and a headshot (if available). Also be prepared to read sides from the script.
