Egads! In the little town of Smithville, Texas, located between the huge mountain ranges and barren wasteland dessert of Central Texas there is no saloon and no school or performing arts. Egads! Enter the School for Villains and Mayor Emma Wroids with a Bounty Hunter and Sheriff Major Tom to boot. Egads! Something must be done! 

Get your throwing arms loose - the popcorn is popping at the Playhouse for the 3rd annual Smithville Melodrama, Egads!  Playhouse veteran actor A. J. Fuex takes her turn under the hail of popcorn and the roar of the boos to be Megan d’Baecon the newest villain in mythical Smithville.  “There’s never enough A.J.” jokes Artistic Director and Egads! playwright john daniels, jr. (sic), “It is so much fun to write for actors who embody the roles so thoroughly.”

“At the Playhouse there is always more to the story,” says Executive Director April Daniels. Egads! is the last show of our 3rd season.  We want to thank all of the actors and audience for an exciting year.”
Playhouse Smithville’s 3rd Season, called “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet”, has been its most ambitious offering to date.  Beginning with The Rocky Horror Show and 1984 through rock and roll history with Come Together followed by Sam Blasco’s Randell McMurphy in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and then Matt Torrez’s Mac the Knife in the 3 Penny Opera, this season has been one surprise after another.  What’s next?   “A Season of Love,” sighs April Daniels.  “Love, yeah that’s it,” says April’s husband and relentless play dictator john daniels, jr..  Meanwhile…

Loaded Gun Theory's (mostly) annual 24-hour play festival returns on November 17th! 7 writers locked in a dark theatre overnight. 7 directors and 21 actors rehearse all day and 7 new plays are brought to life at the Off Center, 2211-A Hidalgo, near E. 7th and Robert Martinez, behind Joe's Bakery (click for map).
