An intoxicating escape—a luminous and entertaining comedy—Hay Fever introduces you to the Bliss family: a retired actress mother, a novelist father, and two children for whom all the world, literally, is a stage. Their outrageous antics alternately infuriate and astound their hapless weekend guests, all of whom have been individually invited up for a weekend tete-a-tete.
Rousing fights, surprise engagements, and fevered declarations of love drive the poor guests from the house, leaving the Bliss family happily bickering and playing amongst themselves as this stylish comedy bounces to its inevitable and “intoxicating” end.
Tickets may be purchased online at any time.

Auditions for Noel Coward's
Hay Fever
Tuesday, May 24, 7:00 p.m.
Wimberley Playhouse, 450 Old Kyle Road, Wimberley (click for map)
Director - Laura Haygood, Executive Producer- Adam Witko
Show Dates July 29 – Aug 21, Friday and Saturday Evenings 8:00 p.m., Sunday Matinees 2:30 p.m.
This show is a zany comedy which will be staged with exaggerated characters and comedic movements. I will be looking to fill a cast of 9, 4 men and 5 women. One couple is older, a novelist and retired actress now staying in their country home. They are joined by their 2 adult children and 4 guests. There is a small role as a maid. This will be a fun show to work on: light humor for the hot summer.
Hay Fever is set in the hall of the Bliss family home. The eccentric Blisses—Judith, a recently retired stage actress, David, a self-absorbed novelist, and their two equally unconventional children— live in a world where reality slides easily into fiction. Upon entering this world, the unfortunate weekend guests—a proper diplomat, a shy flapper, an athletic boxer, and a fashionable sophisticate— are repeatedly thrown into melodramatic scenes wherein their hosts profess emotions and react to situations that do not really exist. The resulting comedic chaos ends only when the tortured visitors tip-toe out the door.
