East Side High is the story of a high school undergoing massive change during a time of great struggle. East Side High is based on a Principal who turns a school around by unusual means. The students put away their differences by investing into the Principal's methods and begin to care for their education during the turbulent times of the civil rights movement. The play climaxes when the students and faculty stand up for their education during the Watts Riots.
